Demonstrations of workers

I’ve just read the post about strikes for food etc.  In Germany we have a lot of people who really like to go on demonstrations – people of the labour union. For example, in the last year, I guess you all remember, there were nearly no trains running anymore in Germany because the train drivers strike to get more money. Over half a year nobody would know exactly if your train came or not. This was really hard for those employees who shuttle everyday. Moreover, the companies had some problems because if there was no train the employee was too late at work. Finally, in January both agreed on a consens (see here).

Just two weeks ago the post start to strike for more money as well. The consequence of that was that in my cities people didn’t get their mails for about one week (see here). This is not as bad as for a usual people but the problem can arise for example if a company sents our an invoice and needs the money as soon as possible but the debitor doesn’t received the invoice then the company can get in trouble. The other way around it’s also possible that the debtor gets in trouble because the paying back period is over and thus the debtor cannot order new products.

What do you think is this the right way to get more money if other people suffer from this as well?

  1. Two sides has good reasons. If they need more money and there is nothing to do something different, they will have to send e-mail.
But, first of all,the companies or banks are under the necessity of sending the invoices. There are lots of methods. We are talking about a city. Not only one or two person! If they don’t send by mail, they can send by SMS or postal. On the other hand, people have lots of responsibilities to do in a day and it is very usual that they can use their rights. If somebody or some company interfere to their rights, the state have to stop them.Protecting their citizenship’s rights is their priority task!

  2. Another problem was the demonstration of several medical professions in Germany in 2006. The doctors of university hospitals and local hospital stroke in order to get a higher salary disbursed by the particular federal state representing their entrepreneur.
The main problem is that they wanted to resist against new conventions obtaining decreasing salaries and the increase of working hours which was arranged by already 42 working hours.
Just after two months the bargaining parties agreed on a consens with the medical professions.
In that case competent agencies should consider more about such problem in the future even when the society has to suffer among these strikes.

  4. Strikes… The thing is, if a certain department of stat needs more money from the state and the state is not willing to give it away, what can be done?
Of course, there are ways how to negotiate and find a common solution, but in reality it is not so easy. There are always more than the two obvious parties in the game, but those are not visible and not known to the ordinary public.

There are always other departments competing for the state money which is of course limited. What if all of these departments decided to strike to get increase of their budget?

Like in a kindergarten, the best way how to attract the attention is to start crying. And similarly like in kindergarten, it also works in politics.
A strike affects the lives of ordinary people and that is the best weapon when negotiating. The game is hard and so are the arms.
